Judith Steenbrink

Judith Steenbrink (baroque violin) is in love with baroque music. After her studies with ao. Lucy van Dael she enjoyed touring criss-cross through Europe with the European Union Baroque Orchestra, Concerto Copenhagen and Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra. For several years now she has been the first violinist with Christina Pluhar’s ensemble L’Arpeggiata. Judith is also co-founder of Holland Baroque and together with her sister Tineke forms the artistic team of this ensemble. Judith plays a violin built in Cremona in 1622 by the Amati brothers. “That is very special, it almost silences me,” she says. “This instrument knows the repertoire much better than I do. I’m doing my very best to follow where he leads me!” Judith is really looking forward to the International Summer Academy in Alden Biesen. “Masterclasses can be a tremendous boost of inspiration. Meeting kindred spirits energizes and creates memories for life. I hope to contribute to that, and I am also very curious who I will meet.
